Photos R Us
"The time spent with loved ones is finite; children mature, but the captured memories endure perpetually." - Mitch Albom
I try not to live in the past, but I do wish there were more pictures of me with my children, when they were young.
One afternoon I was volunteering at my child’s preschool. They had finished easel painting and I was helping set up snack around the tiny table. I sat down next to my child. A college student who worked in the room part-time asked me if I wanted her to take a picture of me and my child. I said, “No, I must look horrible.” I still think about this moment all these years later.
What must my child and I have looked like from the college student’s perspective, to make her offer to take our picture?
Why had I jumped to say, “No?” I didn’t want to be a bother or to inconvenience her. But she had asked. I wish I had that photo now, to look back on and to better remember that time in my life.
So, when someone offers to take your picture, say yes! What’s the worst that can happen? Your eyes are closed or the angle is bad, then you can delete it. And in honor of the Knicks historic run, No harm, no foul. But what if it’s a good picture? It may just be worth the risk.

Happy almost summer!
